Project Engineer

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time
REPORTS TO: Project Manager

Position Summary

The Project Engineer’s primary responsibility is to support the Project Manager in the management and administration of the construction project. The Project Engineer will be involved in a variety of aspects of the project starting at precon, to submittals, RFIs, scheduling, document control, project management, and field operations all the way to close out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend project turnover meetings with precon, PM and Superintendent
  • Submittals
    • Submittal intake and review against contract documents
    • Deliver / overnight samples to architect
    • Compile information into Procore
    • Distribute submittals, including re-submittals as needed
    • Track re-submittals with subcontractors for timely submission and check against original comments
    • Create Submittal schedule (PM assisted) and manage receiving them from subcontractors
    • Check in withsSubcontractors on lead time and any delivery information
  • RFI’s
    • Review RFIs from subcontractors against contract documents, and if valid, draft RFI for PM review
    • Follow up with open items with subcontractors
  • Attend OAC meetings
    • Record meeting minutes for review by PM
    • Work on follow up items at direction of PM
  • Change orders
    • Assist PM in requesting pricing from Subcontractors
    • Build Change Even/PCO for PM review
  • Engaged in PreCon
    • Assist preconstruction manager in subcontractor follow up
    • Assist in compiling pricing on smaller projects
  • Job site walks
    • Walk at various stages of project to understand sequence of work
  • Punch List
    • Attend punch list walk through and record items if needed
    • Mark areas with blue tape on items if Architect is not
    • Track and manage completion of the items for timely completion with the appropriate trades
  • Close out
    • Create subcontractor list for close out documents
    • Compile warranty sheets and O&M manual/As-builts from subcontractors

Experience Needed

  • Construction experience is preferred

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. A benefit program includes medical insurance and 401 K options as well as a bonus structure.
